The Prefrontal Cortex uses short- term memory and is also used in recalling past long- term memories. This region also aids the Amygdala in an upsetting or stressful time to resolve a problem or make a difficult decision. The PFC is an aid in things ranging from choosing which shirt to wear in the morning to what to make for dinner at night and all the events that occur in between. People who have reduced activity in their PFCs typically incur PTSD or ADHD.
The Anterior Cingulate Cortex also has many controls in the brain that ranges from gauging blood pressure to staying motivated. Some of the controls in the middle are keeping motivation, staying focused, and “managing proper emotional reactions”. The ACC basically gauges how much attention is given in different situations.
