During the whole year of 1977, Presley went on many tours and vacations. On August 16, 1977, shortly after midnight, Presley returned back to Graceland after a late-night visit to the dentist. He was to fly to Portland, Maine, that night and do a show on the next day. By late morning, Presley had passed away. Presley left behind his nine year old daughter, Lisa Marie, his girlfriend, Ginger Alden, and his father, Vernon Presley. Elvis Presley was hospitalized a couple of months before his death (Graceland: The Home of Elvis Presley). The coroner recorded the cause of Presley’s death as cardiac arrhythmia, which means his heart was beating irregularly. The physicians omitted the fact that had apparently caused Elvis’s heart beat irregularly and then stop was an overdose of prescription drugs. After this information was released, Vernon Presley, Elvis Presley’s father, had the complete autopsy report sealed. It will remained sealed until 2027, fifty years after the King’s death (Elvis by The Presleys). Because of the circumstances of the autopsy and other questionable circumstances, many believe Elvis Presley did not die in 1977. Elvis Presley inspired many lives by accomplishing many achievements. Presley was named One of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation for 1970. Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie, was inspired by her father, and she is now famous for her music career.
