Eli Whitney was a famous American inventor. Born in the state of Massachusetts in 1765. Eli mastered his problem solving skills and creative thinking thanks to his father, who was not only a farmer. But also a very gifted and talented inventor. As the years progressed, Eli became an observant problem solver and entrepreneur who would change his merchandise to fit the needs of the public.
Whitney attended the University of Yale and graduated on 1792. Eli puts himself self thru college by tutoring and his innovative schemes. From an early age Eli Whitney was a arduous worker and a very intellectual being. As a young man once he had graduated from Yale; he acquired a job on a plantation tutoring children. Meanwhile he observed slaves do strenuous labor. He devised a mechanism that would reduce the time and labor it would take to separate the cotton from its impurities.

Southern Plantation owners were then able to produce larger amounts of cotton, as never before. The cotton gin cleaned more cotton than several dozen slave workers in half the time frame. It also increased the amount of capital the southern plantation owners were accumulating.
Whitney was always a very observant inventor; meanwhile he worked as a tutor on a tobacco plantation in the south. These southern plantation owners were not making a substantial profit off their crops. Whitney also noticed that cotton had huge potential, it just had to be harnessed.
