Authoritarian is defined as the parent who to controls the child with punishment and threats. The parents believe the child should do as they are told and that there are no excuses for bad behavior. The type of child that emerges from this type of parenting can be stressful as the child can behave in a withdrawn manner making it difficult for the parent to connect. The child can also be untrusting of the parent which could make relationships hard. Permissive. Permissive is defined as the parent lets the child rule the house and the parents make no decisions for the child. The child has no boundaries. This type of child can be unwilling to try out new experiences. Lack of communication could be one of two things, that parents do not have enough time to talk or they do not enjoy talking to each other any more. Social support can come from families, and from specialized organizations. Parents who do not agree on parenting style will have to reach a common ground for the sake of their child. Raising a child has never been easy, but the amount of stress the parent caregiver endures is dependent on the relationship and severity of the delay in the child. All these definitions boil down to the same thing, your child will require more of your attention and time than a typically developing child.
