It says “treat others the way you want to be treated”. I believe it, and I believe it more after the Maywood Educational Fair. When I did outreach activities during the weekend with my cohort, I enthusiastically gave one flyer to an old lady who was with her four or five years-old granddaughter and attracted their attentions by introducing the Maywood Educational Fair. The little girl was excited about all the fun activities, games, free snack, and prizes. However, the grandma looked at me with full of suspicion and quickly said something in Spanish to her granddaughter.…
Studying abroad is a good way to learn how to respect the beliefs and cultures of other people in different countries. Ten percent of native-born Americans and 56% of European Union citizens…
When I found out about the job and internship fair assignment I was very excited to visit the booths and experience a job fair for the first time. It was a very new experience but I enjoyed and plan on visiting more throughout my time here at UT. I visited three booths at the job fair; the campus dining booth, the Pepsi booth, and the Pilot booth. All three companies had a lot of information and insight to share about their companies.…

Steering For Success The desire for success is the driving force behind many students; however, not all students have the chance at such an ample opportunity like Upward Bound to bolster their success. Upward Bound has continually pushed and prepared me to conquer my goals. At the same time, during my three summers spent on a college campus, I have grown into a new realm of independence. Upward Bound gave me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, introducing to new interests and new perspectives.…
Thrills me with the thought of expanding my world once again. I am sure that to study abroad will be beneficial for me academically and as an individual. Not only will I be exposed to the unique educational system of Denmark, I will also be exposed to a whole new culture. New people, new scenery, new continent to discover. These future encounters and discoveries will contribute to who I will be in the future.…
Over the course of a life time, a college degree increases a person’s income in excess of a million dollars more than someone who does not complete college. Likewise, a college degree increases a graduate’s sense of overall self-worth. A post-secondary education challenges students not only to evaluate themselves, but also the world around them. Students attending a post-secondary institution are beginning a new path in order to transform themselves in today’s ever-changing marketplace.…
I nearly flunked Spanish 2 sophomore year. I transferred to a new school known as St. Joseph Notre Dame High School, where we had a strict teacher, Mr. Mueller. The second day of his class, we were given a quiz, and given my past history with Spanish 1, I knew I had this one in the bag. How I was farther from the truth, as it only took 2 failing quizzes for him to come up to my desk and say to me "I recommend you try again. From the beginning.…
With over 1,200 public schools in the state of Texas, all but one of them are declared independent, or immune to any form of municipal government. These schools have come to be known as independent school districts, “ISD” for short. The Bill of Rights plays a significant role in independent school districts, as the daily interaction of authoritative government figures and other individuals “is controlled in part by… [guaranteed] protections” listed under the Bill of Rights (Youth Rights 11). Ranking school districts from greatest to needs improvement, Texas has one of the most overrated school systems in the United States of America. Based on several factors such as decreased spending, lack of sex education, and other careless mishaps, the Texas school system is slowly working its way further and further on the public school totem pole.…
My goal for this project is to promote the Gilman Scholarship as well as encourage the community to consider international education regardless of the obstacles that lay before them. I also hope to show that studying abroad while at College is an excellent opportunity that should not be…
Since the day I first moved to Madison more than three years ago, I realized that the University of Wisconsin-Madison has a large presence in the community. Everywhere I go, I see the school emblem of the University and the familiar cardinal and white colors. Despite growing up and having a fondness for my old state, California, UW-Madison has captured my attention as a community which I long to be a part of. With the welcoming atmosphere and the ability to discuss current issues anywhere on campus, I can easily fit into the community. As an Asian-American, as an LGBTQ+ individual, as a driven and motivated student, UW-Madison seems to be the logical choice.…

1.0 Introduction Inclusive education is both understanding and practice giving all children the same rights to an education in any Australian school. All children have the right to learn alongside same age peers within a mainstream education no matter their background or needs they may face. Inclusive schooling supports all children with disabilities and learning disorders and allows children to bring their individual experiences and strengths to the classroom. Inclusive education requires recognising and complying with a range of government acts, which include, Equal Opportunity Act (1984) and Disability Discrimination Act (1992) that are designed to protect the rights of all children. In 1970 the state government of Australia accepted full…
