The research focuses on the foundations for life, health and learning in the early years (Tickell, 2011). The report aimed to highlight the of impact of the EYFS on the learning and development of children and also the early year’s practitioners (Tickell, 2011). This review used several methods to gather its data one of the methods included was qualitative study of practitioners views and the experiences they have had of the EYFS (DfE, 2011). This was conducted in two phases the first included focus group discussions with seven different practitioner groups in each region. The second phase included individual interviews with forty-two practitioners after the preliminary examination of transcripts (DfE, 2011). Another method implemented was online surveys which were completed by parents and carers (DfE, 2011).
