The poem states, “To children ardent for some desperate glory, the old lie; Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori.” That quote means that “it is sweet and right to die for your country,” Owen doesn't put much effort to end the poem in this grand way. But through mood you , the reader feel both inspired to change but yet disgusted that we put that label on war. The song says, “ A hero of war is that what they see Just medals and scars So damn proud of me And i brought home that flag now it gathers dust But its a flag that I love the only flag I trust.” In the song those lines are spoken from the point of view of a soldier. The mood that those lines create is both sand and pressure filled to be this hero in the eyes of everyone else. The poem can mean that society are the ones that lie about war to children and to each other. Both of these pieces reveal some of the actual hardships of being a soldier in war or a person affected by it. Even though the authors used different ways of expressing their beliefs; through song or poem and by using different stylistic devices the most important lesson to take away from these pieces is that was is not something people would lie about because it is hard enough as it is.
