The main function of the set was to provide the audience with some context for the play and a chance to create something beautiful to draw in the audience. Sets are created to be highly realistic, abstract or anything that is in between. It gives the designer a chance to showcase the unusual materials that are used, as well as interesting concepts and new techniques. For instance, the staircase that was on stage, I thought that was very unusual and amazing at the same time because I never thought that was possible to have a staircase on stage. By the way the staircase was designed and set up I can tell the set designer took a lot of time and effort to design and master the ability to create a staircase that let the audience know that the actors were in a house setting.
