Although it is considered a crucial necessity, it undergoes remarkably low standards. It is pushed aside and not significantly recognized. By this I mean water is infested with waste stemming from plastic bags to chemicals causing a great pool of toxic and harmful contamination. Contamination is pollution, and the pollution being discharged into the ponds, lakes, and rivers is of shock.
Contamination is being observed through wells, companies drilling with the controversy over fracking, or old rusty pipelines bursting for they’re improperly obtained to. And this is significant, for the availability of water is decreasing, …show more content…
The contamination of drinking water has frequently been blamed for the transmission of infectious diseases that have caused serious illness. Bacteria like “Fecal coliform and fecal streptococci were detected in 87.9% and 57.6% of 33 well water samples” (Algahtani 3). The presence of the two bacterium's: fecal coliform and fecal streptococci can cause potential sickness depending on the level. And the bacteriological quality of water has been an issue, especially in areas where groundwater is chief. “Algahtani states that “one must think of regions like Saudi Arabia-surface water is scarce, rainfall is irregular, hence, groundwater is key” (Algahtani, 2). Several wells serve purpose, but these wells should be reduced to establish a better water system. In areas where groundwater is of necessity, bacteria levels should be tested to evaluate its safety. Evidently, something must be done to regulate the health of the people, specifically those of Saudi Arabia who undergo the high risks of …show more content…
Water pollution is seeing it’s costs within the water itself, from fish and water life. Montgomery states that: “fish are store houses of various kinds of toxic contaminants…” The consequence of this is that these toxic contaminants can pose a significant health hazard to anyone eating affected fish (Montgomery 1). In an industrialized aspect, this contamination impacts the food chain, and in return, impacts the
