When students stay home from school “ [it] actually doesn't feel like punishment”, most of their activities consists of watching tv, playing video games, or simply just doing nothing. Which if he weren't suspended, all those activities could have been, learning a new lesson in Math, exercising in P.E., or simply reading in English. The missing of school causes that student to “ [detach] from the academic environment.” , and that indefinitely cause a decline in grades. Wasting a child's life by not teaching them the effects of their actions to his/her classmates and teachers is not way going to enable them to stop that type of behavior. At home they are most likely “ unsupervise “, many parents work. So the child is left at home because he is not allowed at school, that can only cause “ more problems”. His one day of doing nothing at home, is a day wasted. Sending that child home with homework, may do some good, but in reality because they are home. And no one is there to watch them that work will never get done. Which is a great waste of time and
