The rational choice theory states that people choose the actions that they take through their free will. The first article I found depicting rational choice theory is Two men arrested in Craigslist double homicide on 1/31/2017. In this article, the two male victims met with the two males that they found via Craigslist with the intent to sell marijuana. Therefore they made the choice to sell the marijuana to two males they did not know before this event, and this choice led to their deaths. The second article is Police name victim in Richmond's third homicide on 1/31/2017. In this article, the male victim was fatally stabbed and died from his injuries at the hospital. Although at the time of the article the motive was unknown, an officer states “It cannot be stress enough that, should one choose to associate themselves with a criminal lifestyle, they are not immune to the dangers and risks that come with it.”. These two articles clearly illustrate that the choices the victims made played a decisive part in their resulting death. Finally, I would like to state that while I attribute these articles to particular crime theories, I understand that it is a rare occurrence that a single theory is a sole reason behind the crime of homicide. In most cases, 2 or more theories combined would be a better tool to evaluate the underlying cause of
