The most significant different between the Constitutions is that the Texas Constitution is much more detailed than the U.S. Constitution. Some articles and sections in the Texas Constitution are so detailed that they look like laws. This level of detailing makes it harder for the legislature to change something because it is harder to amend the Constitution than changing a law. I think this is a way in which the Texas Constitution tries to protect the people’s interest and promote participation, because the public has to vote before an amendment is implemented, but this attempt has backfired because the most people don’t vote for the amendments and too many amendments have been passed, leading to a disorganized Constitution. The Texas governor is the Head of State, but he is relatively weak because he shares power with the other members of the executive branch and they are not subordinate to the governor, so they might have conflicting agendas. I think that operating like this, the Texas’ executive would not be able to address the people’s needs and interests in an effective way because the members might just waste time by fighting each other. However, this system promotes participation because most members are elected by the people and there are more officials to listen to them.
There are many differences between the federal government and the Texas government, and I think that, overall, the federal government does a better job at protection the people’s interest and promoting public
