For the Greeks, one of the biggest causes is the war with Rome. The fall of Rome can also be, in part, due to warring with neighboring nations. The differences between the two can be seen in financial circumstances. While Greek’s economic fall causes conflict between the aristocracy and the poorer citizens, it is also the cause of conflict between the Greek city-states. The city-states are then warring with themselves. This then causes the city-states to leave themselves open to an attack from Rome. On the other hand, Rome’s economic fall is found in the lack of resources for its military. Since this causes a lack of military, it leads to a lack of protection, which then leads to foreign rule and foreign taxes.
