The modern church lacks the social revolution as to be an open society. Society plays such a significant role in our lives. This is hard work, and it must not lose its meaning within society today. The capability of development is undermined and this leaves, at times, the elements of the personal relationship with Christ lacking. We, as each individual, have a responsibility to uphold and maintain a personal relationship with our Lord. Life’s lessons and happenings leaves a huge damper of stress on each individual, the church, and the community. The stress rises on the community of the church as a whole, and at times can be seen as, almost, a political view instead of a personal or spiritual one. The spiritual teachings of Jesus Christ is based on this basic text of ethic, and duty. I realize that actions speak louder than words. As Christians, it is our responsibility to show our actions every day. That is not to be confused with the power of prayer that usually encounters words. The power of prayer is remarkable. It is upheld today in my life as one of great importance. The strength of prayer is found in actually administering words to our Lord and Saviour. Bonhoeffer clearly illustrates that an individual’s and community’s thinking is a way of life. One of the most important passages is “seeing the power in your actions”. This relates to an individual or the church community. The belief of power, prayer, devotion, commitment, and other beliefs must be upheld daily. With every strife comes strength, and power. These strengths, as the author believes, teaches us how to handle change in a positive way. The outcome of every situation may not be as we may depict it, but it teaches much more than a soul realizes. This communication may not be understood at that current moment, or time, but at the right time, it will make sense and be known as to why we encountered it. All the lessons are yet to be learned. There are many more awaiting us as individuals, and as a community in our church homes. Bonheoffer’s words and writings will always be considered of great power to the Christian community.
