In looking at the photo, I can see several symbols that represent her culture. These include the feature of the dress that this India woman is wearing, which is beautiful. When seeing this dress, you know that this worn for special occasions. Her skirt looks as though it has some embroidery on it, which could be religious designs in threads of gold or shimmering silk. The dress is pleated and looks as though it opens from the front, this would showcase symbolic postures or poses that is done through Bharatanatyam. Some symbols that I see from the Bharatanatyam dancers are their jewelry, makeup, costumes, red die, and environment. Through these symbols, they express their culture. The jewelry that is worn is considered unique these include armlet’s, wristlet’s, bangles, earrings, and necklaces help enhance the Indian dancers’ appearance. The make-up has a few unique features with focus on the eyes, by drawing heavy eyeliner extending it outwards past the eyes. Their eyebrows will be darkened for a more dramatic effect.
