The holiday season is full with joy. It’s a time of magic and rising excitement. The traditions of Christmas evoke many feelings in people, and Christmas has a feeling all its own. The cold crisp air, the warm glow of the fireplace, and the smells of freshly baked molasses and cinnamon gingerbread cookies permeate the house. Sounds of Bing Crosby crooning, “White Christmas” and the brightly lit Christmas trees with shiny glass bulbs, satin ribbons are a feast for our eyes. The holiday season inspires and reminds us of those that are dear to us. What better way to show those you care for than gathering them together for an evening of holiday joy. These small, savory finger foods can be eaten in one or two bites. If you are planning to have your cocktail party during typical meal hours, eight to ten types of h’orderves would be sufficient, plan on each guest eating two to three of each kind of appetizer. Some wonderful easy appetizers would be mini quiche, egg rolls, taquitos and meatballs. Meatballs are a great appetizer. They are not expensive and go along way. You can prepare them in advance and serve them with different dipping sauces such as Ranch dressing, barbeque sauce or a sweet ’n sour sauce. Just serve your sauces in different bowls and display them around your meatballs. Salads and deviled eggs can also be made the day before just keep in the refrigerator until time for the party. To also ensure that you have enough food is to include things such as nuts, olives and a vegetable tray. You can also set up a cheese tray with a variety of cheeses and crackers. Do the same with your beverages make a nice holiday punch and serve in a bowl so your guest can serve themselves. Open a few bottles of wine and have them ready for your guest.
