Critical thinking saves me and my patient from unwanted situation. This happened when I started my shift after the handover in the service ward. A deteriorating man with monitoring of V/S every 30 minutes, when I am supposedly giving his IV drugs, I checked his pulse but could not palpate anything. Using my critical thinking, I think the patient is going through shock and I started CPR immediately and buzz to call for code blue team. I pumped so hard and I was very exhausted that time doing continuous CPR. When the team arrived, the doctor asked me the latest obs I felt confident because I checked the patient. We tried everything to revive the patient. Luckily, yes! After 10 minutes the patient has pulse again. I felt very happy and it was one of the best moments of my career because the wife ap-preciated my care and thanking me for my quick response to the patient’s situation. There is no job that can give me this feeling satisfaction. The best experience I will never forget. I can recall from my past memory, I was rotated from ward to theatre unit as a student, I encountered nurses that were not following policies and regulations because of the daily routine that they have been used to. I will be assisting in a minor operation case as a scrub nurse together with my buddy nurse. While preparing for the equipments, my buddy nurse accidentally drops the suture that we are preparing, but I was thinking to ask the circulating nurse to get a new suture pack, he insisted me not to but instead he just washed it with disinfectant. The principle of steril conscience and the role of critical thinking was not present at that time. I am think-ing that the patient will develop infection after the surgery was possible. I was very fright-ened at the very moment that my buddy nurse didn’t think what can happen to the patient with a simple
