Interviewing is one of the many duties that give the investigator the opportunity to get evidence and testimony that will help establish facts and identifying possible suspects. Before interviewing the witnesses, they must be separated so they are not allowed to talk to each one another. Otherwise, it could lead to collusion, witnesses working together to create a story and that could jeopardize finding any possible suspects. Gathering evidence is also another significant role of the first responder during a crime scene investigation. The main objective of the stage is to collect and preserve all reliable evidence, which might play a key role in attempt to reconstructing the crime and helps to identifying the offender. Evidence that us typically collected at a crime scene is: fingerprints, hairs, fibers, and body fluids. After the evidence have been identified and gathered, the investigator must make sure that they are preserved. Once pieces of evidence have been recovered at the crime scene it must be storage properly, if not storage properly evidence can be ruined. Simple mistakes such as improper storage and mislabeling evidence may compromise the entire investigation resulting in a possible mistrial or the perp would be free of all charges. Investigators should therefore avoid storing the pieces of evidence in improper storage
