The Old Testament contains different genres which results in the readers having different types of interpretations. There have been many different interpretations of Genesis chapters 1-2 throughout history. As a result, Christians disagree on how Genesis should be interpreted. The contradictions presented in these two chapters when treated as historical texts forces Christians are forced to place one narrative over the other. If instead they are looked at as theological narratives, Christians which narrative is more accurate than the other.
