Let’s just say, I think that may have knocked some sense into them. That covenant may have been broken, but God, being a God of mercy and love made a new covenant with them. We may do bad things, awful things, but God, is slow to anger and full of love, he will always pick us back up again and forgive us. God made unconditional covenants in the Bible. This is the moment where I really see God as a father. He loves us so much, and wants us to trust that He will be there for us, and never let us go. not only this, but during a usual covenant, both parties walk through the split animals. Yet, not this case with God. God doesn’t let Abram walk through, because, he knows that he will break the covenant, but it’s okay because has already forgiven him, and still wants to give him the blessings.
