Later in the book, the story of Little Bee reveals that the cause of the “conflict” that makes her leave Nigeria and seek asylum is oil in Nigerian delta. Though the reader is never informed about specific name of the actors that cause the oil conflict in Nigeria, as they are called “the men” throughout the book, it is not so hard to guess that British occupation of Nigeria is the point. So the above mentioned ironic preface reminds that it is the colonial policy of Britain that forces Little Bee to flee her country and seek asylum. The bad conditions in the detention center in England that Little Bee ends of for two years unfolds the fact that England lies behind the vicious circle Little Bee involved in. Particularly, the book addresses the results of the colonial policy of England that still exist in the form of its immigrant policy. Considered in broader sense, however, the consequences of exploitation and the troubles that immigrants come across are similar. The tragic stories of other asylum seekers in detention center together with Little Bee confirm this
