Using the computer makes it hard for the recipient to understand what the person is saying. Without using verbal communication then they can not hear the tone they are using. The recipient could assume the tone in their head. If the recipient is mad, then the email could come off to them as rude or mean, even though the sender was in a jolly mood and was writing it with a smile on their face.
