I want to thank everyone that I had an opportunity to work alongside on accomplishing various tasks. First, I had expressed heavy interest in working in the public sector when asked of my career path. Second, I was interested in working the financial industry but much more so on the regulation side of pendulum. Third, as I undergraduate student, I could work for the government and in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Who could say no to that? In the midst of one of my tougher semesters, I was extended an invitation for a telephone interview. My previous experiences in mock interviews and improvement in my interview skills beforehand prepared me for the moment.
Thankfully, I was offered the once and lifetime opportunity to intern at the OCC. Then, there I was lost of my first day coming to the office in unfamiliar territory as a native New Jersyean. It did not deter me from the one goal occupying my thoughts: to learn as much as possible. My insatiable thirst for knowledge allows me to soak up copious information like a sponge. Effectively tracking the progress of an organizations, the importance of data analysis cannot be understated. I even learn a couple of new tricks that furthered sharpen my skills. Ringing more true today that in the past, it is imperative students have useful technical skills. I am forever grateful that I was able to have professional experience using Excel. Coupled with the wise advice from my supervisor of accuracy vs efficiency, I am more confident that I can handle any tasks assigned to me.
Working for the government reaffirms my belief that dreams do come true. My knowledge of the OCC before my internship and now is significant. I attribute it to my willingness of asking questions to ameliorate understanding of the various tasks assigned to me. In all, it makes me appreciate the hardworking people working at the OCC in upholding its mission.
I am proud to be (briefly) apart of the
