The government system in Rome was a Republic, where the people elected representatives to represent them in government. Just like in a democracy power is given to the people, even if just partially. Rome also had great structures among the empire, which included government buildings, houses, and arenas. Many, if not all, used columns as structural support. These columns were of the same design as the ones used in ancient Greece and could be found in Byzantium as well. The ancient Greek civilization truly did influence civilizations in the future. The Han Dynasty, which was founded by Liu Bang, was another very influential ancient civilization. This civilization invented many objects that help individuals or organizations in everyday life. This includes the ship rudder which is used to steer boats (document 6). This invention was a giant leap forward for the Han Dynasty’s naval assets. Another one of the Han Dynasty’s influential achievements was the introduction of making paper from wood pulp, which was discovered by Cai Lung, who was an official of the Han Court (document 6). Since this paper was durable it was an invention that had great impact on the Han Dynasty. Both of these achievements had great influence on the Roman and Byzantine
