For the past ten years, most states have adopted the Common Core standards. In which, most agree that the Common Core’s purpose is to provide a clear consistent set of expectations for students. Some teachers have not replaced their teaching methods. The 2016 ACT National Curriculum Survey and Common Core State Standards & Career and Technical Education indicated that there are disconnections between Common Core’s academics and some college instructors’ perception on college readiness. For example, the disagreements between educators are in the K-12 sectors on when to introduce topics to prepare students for college, and fifty percent of high-school teachers believe that their instruction is aligned with college instructors’ viewpoints on college readiness, but they are not because college instructors found students starting college still struggle in core subjects such as math and English.
