There is a large market for this as many people are okay with spending extra money to be able to watch the sports teams that they root for, or to watch their favorite shows on the premium networks such as HBO and Showtime. NBCUniversal strives to be successful in part by their wide variety of cable networks. They have seen success through the use of their 16 national cable networks, 15 regional sports and news networks, and more than 60 international networks. The objective here for Comcast is to produce as popular of networks as possible. The more popular the network is, the more eyes that are watching them, which directly translates to more money for a few reasons.
