Like most people spring and I have a love hate relationship. Everything is blooming, warm air, and the warmth of the sun on your skin, however with spring comes the pollen, itchy eyes, runny nose, and blocked up ears. I never knew these outdoor allergies would affect how or what I could eat. Well here is the good news bad news section. The way to treat Oral Allergy Syndrome are years of allergy shots slowly upping the amount of allergen injected hoping to build an immunity. They start at twice a week to once a week to every other week to once a month. This process takes up to five years to complete and in some cases they do not work. If the shots don’t work the only thing I can do is avoid my allergens. This means only eating cooked fruits and veggies, get rid of dust and pollens by vacuuming and washing floors regularly, keeping window shut and not let pollens in the house, wash bed sheets in hot water weekly, and cover the bed and pillows with allergy dust covers that protect against dust mites, and taking an anti-histamine to deal with hay fever
