There are three primary colors: yellow, red and blue. They are unique because no two separate colors can be mixed together to produce them. Yellow symbolizes energy and stability, red symbolizes courage and determination and blue symbolizes wisdom and intelligence. I was born as a primary color and I portray these individual characteristics that make up yellow, red and blue. Every action and decision in my life leads back to these colors.…
“Everyone is equal”, “You are who you are and don’t let people change that”, “We live in a world of hate but remember that everyone is not the same”. These are all things I heard from teachers and my father growing up. Growing up I knew there was something different about me more than other kids. I was always bullied and put out of large groups because they said I acted “gay”. I never really wanted to come out and tell people my problems because in society people think it’s not right and a “phase” in many young teens.…
Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. I Can Do This Motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar once said, “Try to look at your weakness and convert it into your strength. That’s success.” For me, it took several months to realize what my greatest weakness was.…
Personal Identity; a concept of oneself most individuals are expected to possess. Ever since the personality quizzes and future career planning units that took place throughout courses in elementary and middle school, I have found the importance of self-concept in adult life to be abundantly clear. In addition to determining a pathway to future success, personal identity allows for interpersonal connections and relationships. Quite honestly, even without all the external pressures, a sense of myself cultivates feelings of personal security, calmness, and acceptance.…
Getting to college is the first step, but finding yourself is crucial in life especially in finding who you are or your identity this step may be your first experience in the real world. I believe that exploration is important in finding yourself. An important part of identity a residence could explore is their cultural identity. A person can find themselves here with others who have the same background and culture as them especially in a place like the ethnic cultural center. Personally I took up opportunities at the Ethnic cultural center, and I learned that I have commonalities with other students here, and made some close friends.…
Opportunity is something many humans take for granted over the course of their lives. We live each day working hard in hopes that someday the gates will open wide in front of us, leading the way down the path to a prosperous life; and for some this very well may be their destiny, but if I've learned one thing over the course of my twelve years of schooling, it's that opportunities come and go like leaves in the wind, and they are a commodity we all have the ability to fully take advantage of with the right mindset. As a senior, I've came to this realization much too late, but my will to succeed has not faltered, and although I can only do so much, the least I can do is make the effort to seize every opportunity and walk through those doors,…
Prompt: Most students have an identity, an interest, or a talent that defines them in an essential way. Tell us about yourself. Throughout the course of my life thus far, I have been through a handful of phases; ultimately, it was whatever my older brother was doing at the time. In the second grade, my brother was intrigued with skateboarding, so being the younger and impressionable brother I was, I also loved to skateboard. Even though I couldn’t even balance myself on the board, I was just captivated by any interest my brother was into.…

In the United States there are many systems that are set up to make minorities fail. For example we have an educational system in which schools are more concerned with the attendance of the students rather than the quality of the education that they are receiving. For women there are these ingrained norms in the patriarchal society that they live in which limits their abilities to be involved in the government and to have the same treatment as men when it comes to pay or respect. There are so many systems that still push for the Elitism and the only way a person can combat that is through forging a strong academic identity by having a strong support system, academic goals and life goals. Our academic identities as Lukin seniors are very…

A turning point of my life “Your breaking point is really your making point”. All of us are bestowed with the unique personalities with both good and bad qualities as part of our personality. Sometimes the evil that dwells inside us become so strong that it makes us blind to see the real good of others. I remember when I was in my high school, I used to be one the naughty boys of the class who are always indulged in doing mischievous acts.…
At the End of the Day Have you ever pondered about the endless connection of things? I find it completely mind boggling to think about the fact that everything we do at the present is linked to what our lives would look like in the future. Every action, big or small, has a different effect on what kind of person we would become. Thinking about it, it seems like such a heavy burden; having to always do the right thing for a brighter future. This, along with the fact that we don’t exactly know what the correct choice is all the time, makes living a good life seem like such a herculean task.…
