I began volunteering at my high school’s science club for year seven’s in which I was able to share and help the communication of science through a combination of discussions and lab work. Following this was almost a year volunteering at Trafford General Hospital, providing a trolley service.
I have recently graduated with a Bachelors degree in Medical Sciences. The aspects of the course that I found particularly interesting were; Anatomy, physiology and micro-pathology. Music is something that I and a lot of people enjoy; if it could induce a state of healing I wanted to know how and the credibility of it doing so. After, I discovered the ability of music therapy to reverse dementia and a potential to increase healing rates. Imagine the relief to families and an increase in hospital bed availability. However, I came to the conclusion that more randomised controlled trials were needed for the therapy to be taken seriously.
