Soldiers at camp essentially had a ½ chance you will get sick. This is significant because a soldier has 10% chance of dying, that leaves a 90% chance of survival, but 10% is still an extensive amount at that…
A lot of people have been getting sick because the US soldiers did not have very good houses. The soldiers also got ill because they were shoeless and got frost bite. The soldiers had to battle in cold weather. At Valley Forge, in two months there were a total of 4000 soldiers who had died. There was an estimate of 1800 to 2500 deaths due to illness during encampment.…
There is no doubt that the Civil War was one of the bloodiest and most grueling times in American History, most notably on American soil. From April 12th 1861, Americans, both Union and Confederate, were exposed to an astonishing number of grueling and terrible scenes on the fields of battle. Although the war was fought for the citizens and was named ‘Civil’ only one group of the citizens, either the Union or the Confederate, won what they desired. So was the Civil War civil? Between the Union and Confederate existed several opposing opinions, which led to the Civil War. Some of these issues were the different types of economic structures, perceptions of equality and freedom, and the conflicting viewpoints on states rights and national powers.…

The Civil War was caused by three main reasons: economic differences, moral beliefs, and interpretation of the Constitution.…
Who really knows what caused the Civil War? Could it be westward expansion or different cultures? There are many reasons that could have collaborated together to put the nation at war. The three main causes of the war are slavery, distinction within the North and the South, and the election of Abraham Lincoln. Why would there be peace with a nation that’s divided into two that are the complete opposite of each other?…
The path to the Civil War was a long one. There were various points in American history that lead to the war; such as the Missouri Compromise; the Kansas-Nebraska Act; the political idea of nullification; the political idea of secession; John Brown; the election of Abraham Lincoln; secession; and slavery. Before the Missouri compromise states were evenly divided between slave states and Free states. In 1819 Missouri requested to join the Union as a slave state, which would upset the balance between the two factions. In March 1820 Congress allowed Missouri to be a slave state but Main would be a free state and any new state formed in the lands of the Louisiana Purchase of latitude 36°30′ would be Free states.…

The Civil War was one of the most memorable and historical wars in America. The conflicting beliefs of the north and south lead to a war that consisted of at least 616,000 casualties. Originally, the war began in hopes to prevent the states of the south from leaving the Union of the U.S. States of the south seceded because of a difference of ideas regarding slavery. Some people believe that slavery was the primary cause of the Civil War, though slavery did play a major role in the upbringing of the civil war I do not believe that it was the dominant cause of the war. The first reason that I believe that the statement that the Civil War’s primary cause was slavery is incorrect is that the war began, to prevent disunion in the U.S but, slavery was only a factor that would cause disunion or secession of the south.…

The Civil War was a pivotal moment in the United States’s history being a high point in a sectional discord that’s affects have continued to be evident in several issues in today’s society. As most wars, there’s at least two decidedly divided and biased sides to the story. With two perspectives coming from one country America had to decide how they wanted to remember this war. Being such a complex dispute with two very distinct viewpoints, each side had their personal view on the reasons for the war, the events throughout the war, and the effectiveness of reconstruction. Through extensive measures by multiple people, each side go their story out and shaped how others viewed the war decades after the fact, no matter how contrasting these memories…
Walter in “The Critical Barrier to Civil War Settlement” tries to explain why civil wars are never ended with a peaceful settlement and fought until one side beats the other. This is because there are problems of enforcement and vulnerability; both sides prefer to fight instead of cooperate because it leaves them vulnerable (Walter compares this exchange with the Prisoner’s Dilemma situation). Unlike interstate wars, making cheating not favorable is difficult; either side cannot withhold resources or build military defenses without triggering a response from the other side and there is no neutral force or government to enforce peace. According to Walter, there are two ways to solve this issue: design power-sharing institutions involving both…
