One symbol commonly used is baby Jesus. He and his family are in a stable with many stars above them. People see this as significant because this is when people believe Jesus was born.Another symbol is a christmas tree. This is probably the most common symbol because most canadians use christmas trees to celebrate christmas. This is significant because mostly everyone around the world uses a tree to celebrate Christmas. “Santa Claus” is also portrayed in many pictures during and leading up to Christmas. This is symbolic because “Santa Claus” comes on Christmas night and gives everyone presents for Christmas.
Food and Beverages

For the French Canadians, they would hunt and cook for days leading up to Christmas Eve and have a huge meal. Just before midnight, they would decorate their tree before going to a midnight mass. Children would then open gifts in their stockings but, leave all of the large gifts for new year’s day. There would always be a nativity scene on display.
The English would open gifts in the morning and go to a midday mass. They would have a huge feast usually consisting of roast goose and beef.
After Canada was settled by more groups, the traditions and way of doing things came from many other countries. Some of those countries are France, Britain and America.
Traditions
In Canada, many people celebrate Christmas by starting off the season with a friendly winter holiday to all their friends and family telling them how much the appreciate/ are thankful for them being in their lives. Many people also open all gifts one Christmas Eve, open only one or their stocking on Christmas Eve, or just open all gifts on Christmas Day.
