The first dimension, attachment formation regards the extent to which a child differentiates familiar adults to non-familiar adults, and where the child will display preference for a certain caregiver. The second dimension, attachment organization, refers to a coherent pattern in which a child’s behaviors and/or strategies that maintain proximity to the caregiver, particularly when confronted with a stressful, or fearful situation. The outcome of the study developed some limitations that consisted of gaps in information about pre-adoptive experiences; these gaps hindered the attempts to isolate certain pathways to the current behavior for disorganized patterns of attachment (Fogel, 2015).
