In pursuit of the Cherry Lane’s mission, “To cultivate an urban artist colony, honor our groundbreaking history, and engage audiences as partners in creating theater that illuminates contemporary issues, and at its best, transforms the spirit,” its historical main-stage, the birthplace of Off-Broadway, has 179 seats, the art lighting system, sound equipment and enough space for crewmembers. Also, the studio theatre, 60-seat, is smaller than the mainstage, but it includes a full package of equipment and rooms. Two stages are available for rent, and thus the theatre company encourages the other independent film productions to perform their plays.
Not only do two different types of stages strongly support the production company’s mission, but also the theatre offers development programs, such as its famous program, Mentor Project.
