Nowadays, to get a good job in South Korea, education background is one of the most important factors on young students’ career. All the certification and diploma from a well-known university is a strong competitiveness in Korean society. Me as Korean student I came to America to graduate university in here because I could not be admitted to a university in Seoul, South Korea. In my country, it is hard to get a job if people did not graduate famed university in Seoul, so parents pushing hard children to get a good grade to school or get a certificate from the famous university. This kind of culture dividing people by university similar to the caste system. Also, Korean parents believe that people who graduate great university with high record transcripts such as Seoul nation University, Yonsei University, and KAIST which is top three universities in South Korea get a better job in future and lead the society. In my case, after I graduate the high school, I did not have enough ability to go these universities. That is the reason why my parents and I decide to come to America and wants to graduate University from here to avoid a difficult education competition in South Korea. Sometimes this kind of pressure that Korean students get, it causes the cheating on exams. As an example, there was cheating on SAT in South Korea. According to Huffington post, “In May 2013, the test was canceled throughout South Korea after tutoring companies allegedly obtained and distributed an advance copy. In 2007, SAT scores were invalidated for all students who took the test in South Korea after some saw at least a portion of the test beforehand.” The pressure that students have to go good university make people cheat on the exam. That cheating is not a small problem, therefore, many people can know through the news or the other media. When we were young we learned a lot of thing from adults and real life experiences. Nowadays, because of the development of technology, it is easy to access to Social media or the other media from anywhere. Because of this change, a lot of children have more chance to get information from media or the internet. When a huge cheating incident or famous people falsify diploma occur children will encounter with this information and think that it is okay to cheat or falsify because a lot of people and person who is well known as intellectual doing the same thing. In my example, when I was 12 years old I was studying to take TOIEC exam it is one of the exams from ETS in south Korea. While I was preparing for that exam there was big cheating on TOIEC exam in South Korea. A huge private English Institute leaks out test questions to students who study in their institute. When I first saw that news, I head to my parents and asked them that I want to go that English institute because in that way I can easily get a high record on the test. Of course, my parents did not allow me to do. This is a case that I have experienced is one of reaction that children can have when they faced the huge cheating incident through the media. As another
