According to Ohmer & DeMasi, 2009, the aim of a consensus organizer is to develop the abilities or the skills of others to effect change. Consequently, the focus of the consensus organizing lies on the current assets and the strengths the communities have. The uniqueness of the community organizing lies on bridging of the relationship with the external associates through the recognition and identification of mutual interest. Apparently, the accomplishment of a consensus organizer is measured by the degree in which community residents have actual roles in understanding and solving challenges (Ohmer & DeMasi, 2009).
Characteristics of Consensus Organizers
Energetic and Passionate about the Community Work
A community organizer must have an internal will and urge to do community work. The residents of a community can identify half-hearted attempts; hence, lack confidence in their potential (Ohmer & DeMasi, 2009). However, consensus organizer brings hope to the community with a genuine desire to see the residents progressing. If organizers lack these attributes, they will not be remarkable, causing more harm to the people.

As a student, I may not possess all the traits of a good community organizer, but I have some of them. For instance, I am a good listener, where I listen to every person I come across to get their actual feelings and emotions. Apparently, listening enables me to learn more about the speaker; therefore, make it easy to solve their challenges. Another character I possess is on being patient and persistence. I understand that most of the problems with people or residents did not develop overnight; hence, implementing change requires some time. Also, after implementing any change, I don’t expect to see the positive response immediately, as everything has a lead
