I think that in time, I will gain even more positive qualities that will help in the education field. However, I continue to work on my patience, which is also a very important component. I continue to work on my patience every day, and have noticed that I do have more patience with children more so than adults. Everyone has qualities that are both positive and negative, but if you work hard towards turning those negative qualities into positive ones, you will better your chances of positively influencing the lives of many children. Not only are the qualities mentioned before important for an Early Childhood Educator, but as the education field continues to change, so do the qualities that a teacher must have. Technology has become a norm in our society, but as time goes on, the industry continues to advance. With cognitive development, you can have students practice different activities such as the alphabet, identifying shapes, etc. With older students you could help promote cognitive development by creating assignments where they must correct misspelt words or unscramble words, you could also help them sound out words they are having trouble with while reading. Social and emotional development are also big factors in childhood. In order to promote social development, you could create group activities or games for the children to engage in. To promote emotional development, you can help students engage in conflict resolution or create fun ways to promote self-esteem among the children. Personality development is something that is more personal to each student so it is a little harder to create a way to do it as a group activity, one idea is to create mini paper people of themselves and have the children write certain characteristics about themselves to see how they view themselves. Sex-role development can be promoted by teaching children about the stereotypes and norms for their sex, while emphasizing that just because you are a certain gender does not mean you cannot like certain things. Moral development is very important at this age, you are able to teach children right from wrong and the proper way to handle certain situations they may not agree with.
