The Louisiana purchase took place during the beginnings of the 1800’s, “The Louisiana Purchase encompassed 530,000,000 acres of territory in North America that the United States purchased from France in 1803 for $15 million” (history.state.gov). This was a demonstration of a foreign policy because there was land outside the United States, the purchase of land was an attitude in which France and the United States were agreeing on based on the money given. The Louisiana Purchase was named after the “Revolution of the 1800”, this was a comparison to the election of the 1800 for its act upon peace. The Louisiana Purchase was for the United States to keep expanding west because of their new land purchased. As a result, this brought to the Manifest destiny. The Manifest destiny brought victory to many countries, “Americans headed west in droves. Newspaper editor John O’sullivan coined the term ‘Manifest Destiny’ in 1845 to describe the essence of the mindset” (US.History.org). The great depression brought good and bad access to money. The way people responded was that they agreed to receiving more money and by receiving more money they were living the American Dream. While the people who were in poverty were trying to expand their opportunities by trying to get their way up to the highest socioeconomic class. As a result, they were not living the American Dream.
