As mentioned before we are the patients advocates and contradicting what they say can lead to a patient feeling attacked. Personally I would want the patient to be happy with the choices that they make although sometimes this can be challenging. Therefore, to ensure that the patient is comfortable with their decisions I would pay closer attention to nonverbal communication and making sure it parallels with what they are stating verbally. Like facial expressions, posture, gestures, and manners (Tamparo, 2017, p. #14-17). Ethically I do not have the right to talk about the patients’ medical information, therefore I can continue with my planned course of action. As long as the patient’s wishes are meet building trust with the patient can be quite simple. This also allows for patient centered goals because they feel comfortable. Knowing that their concerns are addressed and made clear, and that there is little to no room for miscommunication, or misinterpretation.
