Brave Man travels World to be united with his love
Candide, a boy who lives in the castle of Westphalia, caught kissing Cunegonde, was kicked out of his only home. Thus starting his adventure, his will to find his lover gets Candide into may different troubles around the world. Finding his admirable tutor Pangloss, who tells Candide that the royal family has been killed by Bulgarian robbers. Candide is despondent with the information that his lover could possibly be dead. The old woman, whose name is never told, heals Candide back to health. A while later, a woman is brought to her house, veiled, Candide could not see who she is, until he unveiled her. A euphoric feeling hit Candide as he says that it was indeed Cunegonde! They embrace, and Cunegonde tells Candide that she was able to escape the robbers, and now that she was a slave. Then, Cunegonde’s two owners barge into the house, and try to take her away, however Candide thinks fast and kills them both. Having two murders on their hands, the old lady suggests to the group that they move out by horseback, so they travel out of town In their travel to a new town by horseback, and by boat. The group of three meet a governor, who asks for Cunegonde’s hand in marriage. Cunegonde is urged to marry him, and as Candide finds this out, a servant, by the name of Cacambo tells him they he should leave to get people on his side to fight for his lover back. They go to a Jesuit camp, where they meet the leader, which happens to be Cunegonde’s brother. Candide tells the Baron that his sister is alive, and how he wants to marry her. He gets cheated out of his two last sheep when a merchant with a boat offers him a ride to Venice, but takes his sheep and some money before he is able to get on the boat. He sailed away with his prizes. Candide now finds another companion by the name of Martin to take him to see his beloved. They land in France for a while, and stay for a few days, then sail off to English shores. After, they go to Venice where Candide searches for Cacambo, and to no avail, does not find him. Later in their journey, they finally find Cacambo, who has been sold as a slave. Candide buys him back by his other owner. Cacambo tells Candide Cunegonde is working as a slave in Propontis. Before they leave to fine Cunegonde, Candide sees two slaves who look exactly like Pangloss and Baron. It turns out is was actually them! Candide buys his friends back, and they all sail to find Cunegonde. They find Cunegonde and the old woman, and Candide marries Cunegonde against her brother’s wishes. The two buy a farm together, but despite achieving his goal, Candide is unsatisfied with his life because Cunegonde has turned ugly. Candide has gone through many adventures in his life, and all so he could be unhappy, despite his optimistic attitude towards
