In this digital age that we live in, life has become so fast paced that there are times that we can't seem to keep up. This is how many people feel and the high level of stress has sometimes taken its toll and has caused lives to deteriorate.
Some are intimidated by the word "stress" because they really don't know what it means. All they know is that stress can be linked to some leading causes of death.

Normal body functions slow down during stressful situations. The immune and digestive system in particular. Blood pressure and pulse rates also rise. An increased sense of alertness prevents sleep.
We all react differently when it comes to stress and this is why some are affected negatively when it comes to their health. Health problems multiply for those who do not know how to cope or respond the wrong way to stress.
Even positive experiences can lead to stress like having a baby and going on a long journey for the first time. We all need to know how to manage stress and be aware that when we respond negatively to stress it will cause health problems which may eventually lead to untimely death.

Acute Stress
This type is the most common and it deals with what we face in the short term. A good example would be when you get in an argument with someone. This would include self help and in some instances medications. Helpful therapies like aromatherapy and reflexology are a big help when treating people.
In some cases, prescription drugs can be given to reduce depression. The mental condition is now the one being treated and not the stress.
Stress Management
There are a lot of ways to manage stress. Exercise is one healthy way to combat stress. Some take drugs, alcohol and caffeine to relieve stress but on the contrary these substances make stress worse. Eating healthy and having a balanced diet will help reduce stress due to health issues. Listening to music and relaxing within the day will help reduce stress for the day. Spending time and talking with family and loved ones will surely relieve you from the burdens that you carry
