The film, lasting almost two and a half hours, does not lose the audience once. This is an important aspect that film writers and directors should pay close attention to. The emerging love between Katniss and Peeta is definitely something that keeps the audience’s attention and curiosity. From the beginning scene where Peeta gives Katniss bread so that her family doesn’t starve, to the scene in the cave, where Peeta and Katniss share their first kiss, the audiences in both real life, and in the movie, are definitely rooting for the two young lovers. The book, however; does a much better job of showing their progressive feelings for each other. In the book, the flashback of Peeta purposely burning some bread that was food for the pigs and giving it to Katniss so that her family didn’t starve, was completely shortened in the film. I think that it was an important scene because it showed the initial moment that Katniss began to fall for Peeta, Also the scene in the cave is much more descriptive than the movie. The movie scene is too brief and is not as romantic as the scene in the book. This was disappointing to me because I think that the romance in the book made it seem like they actually felt something for each other, and that they weren’t just pretending to love each other in order win over more sponsors like it is portrayed in the
