Her culture very different from the Israelites. Before Ruth became a widow could you imagine the influence that Naomi must have had on her for her to give so selflessly? In The Book of Ruth, it stated that Ruth was young. The guidance that Naomi as a mother taught Ruth had to give some influence on her character. Ruth did not seek men that were younger or did she seek there company of a man at all. She worked in the hot fields to feed her and her Mother-in-law never complained nor did she ask for help. She only asked the foreman to let her work for herself. Gleaning from the fields in that day in time was kind of like our welfare system in the U.S. today. The difference is in this story of love the farmers out of their love for the poor let them work for themselves so they can provide for themselves and their family but not a profit. She held her integrity virtue and honor by working. She could have turned to begging, or to finding a man to take care of her. She ultimately loved herself. Ruth’s principles were all of that of honor and respect. This book reveals many lessons that any culture, religion, creed, nationality, or any human being can learn
