Bombardier Transportation has numerous more minor generation and advancement offices around the world, for accessibility. It offers a wide range of products that include passenger rail vehicles, locomotives, bogies, propulsion & controls, along with servicing & maintenance. I was stationed at the Delhi Metro Khyber Pass Depot where I was closely associated with the trains. I would first study about different components/parts & understand about them & visit the yard where I would see the train parts.
I also witnessed a lot of servicing & maintenance operations. These further helped me in understanding about the train & its parts & come up with a report which cover all parts of the train with emphasis laid on each & every major mechanical component used in the train.
TRAIN LAYOUT
The Delhi Metro train operates on a 25 kV overhead power supply, in a train consist of four, six or eight cars, with a maximum service speed of 85 km/h. The trains are designed to conform to all relevant standards and requirements regarding fire safety and reliability, which are considered in every aspect of the design, manufacture, maintenance and operation. To ensure that the trains will operate in Delhi’s specific environmental conditions with a very high availability and thus ensure a very efficient Metro service some key technology designs have been used such as:
• Stainless steel car-body
• Flush double glazing designed to minimize the solar gain

• Fabric convolutes that are sewed together.
• Floor cover similar to the convolute that covers the gap between the linking bridge and the convolute.
Bridge:
• Linking bridge that consists of a frame of stainless steel, tread elements of light alloy and glide elements.
• Bridge covers that consists of a floor flap, a rod hinge and a tread element. The bridge cover is serving the connection between car and gangway and has an anti-slip surface to protect passengers from slips, trips and falls.
Each gangway half consists of a bellow with double skin design. To allow downward weight pressure by passengers standing inside the gangway, a plate is fitted on the top of the coupler beneath the gangway. The bellow is made from 2.8 mm thick silicone, flame resistant, material.
The gangway halves are bolted to the car body end wall. Easy quick-release equipment is fitted in the middle frame between the gangway halves for a complete interconnection. In one of the gangway halves, the levers for release are secured and hidden from passengers in-between the
