Killing police is not justice towards anyone, it will on makes the situation worse. The police as an entity is not the true holders of violence, but our ideology that our society has towards colored people. “We are the ones who send in police to make sure it all goes according to plan” (Coates) We are the ones who build the society we live in and how people act towards one another. Racism exists, the majority of decent human being are against it, but it still thrives in our society.
This racism makes it so that many non-whites cannot make it/ progress far in life. They are confined to ghettos and to never really make it further than that. Coates does not seem to cover a lot about the stance of police. His position seems to be against the police as he has vaguely stated anything defending their side. “ When defenders of the police say that cops do the work ordinary citizens are afraid of, they are correct.” (Coates) Not anyone can be an officer, it's not a task for a average person. Police officers have to represent the American ideology, how America wants society to act/be. It tends to target the people of color unfortunately. Very little seems to be done towards officers who have done wrong towards citizens.. It’s not surprising either, the police are supposed to represents the community, so having them look bad would not suit well.
