Her passion for preforming was the only thing that kept her happy through everything she had went through. If it was not for her having to take care of Blanche all those years, she could have received all the attention she craved from her audience instead of being jealous that everyone loved her sister instead of her. Just like Jane, Blanche was passionate about preforming but of course being the jealous sister that she was, she was unable to see Jane happy and successful so she blamed the car accident on her. Knowing that her sister’s guilt would result in Jane taking care of her, she never told her the truth, not until she knew she was going to die. Sometimes people act different because they do not like themselves, but does there comes a point where the self-hatred becomes so strong that an individual literally becomes someone else. In the film the talented Mr.Ripely, Tom truly hated his life of poverty and loneliness to the point where he completely became someone else. Tom’s passion was being someone else, as well as passionately hating himself. He took the first opportunity he could of leaving his home and attempting to imitate someone else. He was very talented at studying people’s behaviors, actions, and looks which was how he was so successful on becoming just like Dickie. It seems Tom has taught himself to study others and their signature which he most likely used for check fraud and identity theft. So since he has been practicing this type of fraud for a while it did not seem so hard to imitate someone’s
