Julius Caesar was born into a senatorial noble family in July 100 BC. Caesar father, Gaius Julius Caesar, was a praetor. Caesar father died when Caesar was sixteen years old, leaving Caesar authority of the family. Around that time Caesar married Cornelia Cinna, who was the daughter of Lucius Cornelius Cinna. Lucius Cinna was a significant member of the Popular faction. At the movement Lucius Cornelius Sulla was the dictator and he commanded Caesar to divorce Cornelia. Caesar escaped into the military after he refused Sulla’s orders. Sulla death in 78 BCE insure Caesar protection enough to return back to Rome. In 60 BCE a political alliance called the First Triumvirate was organize between Julius Caesar, Marcus Licinius Crassus, and Gnaeus Pompey, Rome’s most powerful men.
