This photo was created for her funeral it depicts her as a young woman of only 17 and then her right before she died in 2003. I was only three when she passed away. I had just gotten a concussion from playing don’t touch the lava and I fell when jumping from the the couch to the coffee table. I got the corner of the coffee table into my head. My dad came down when he heard me crying and gave me an ice pack and like most dads would do said I was okay and sent me off to school before he had to go to work. Later at school I started throwing up violently and couldn’t stop. My mom got a call from the preschool and she came and picked me up. She brought me to the Emergency Room at Elmhurst hospital. The doctors moved me out of the Emergency room and over to a regular unit since i was going to be staying for awhile longer than anticipated. I had a CAT scan done and it showed that I had a concussion. I still hadn’t stopped throwing up so they had to keep me there that night with an iv in my arm so that I wouldn’t become dehydrated. While all of this was going on my Great grandmother ended up in the hospital as well. She wasn’t that far away so the rest of my family was able to go see her while I stayed in my room vomiting. Later that night I was sent home after the vomiting had stopped. My Great Grandmother passed away that night. I was devastated. I never had gotten to say goodbye. Though her beloved huge dog had always scared me as a little child. She had an old fashioned way of doing things. She was strict but she was very nice to me. I missed her dearly. My mom broke me the news and she paused to ask if i knew where people go when they die. As my mom and grandmother tell me, I responded saying up, they go up mom with god. Now it is weird to think that a three year old already knew this without ever experiencing a loss to death before. But none the less little young me knew the answer. We attended her
