The Superiority of Whites over Blacks Back in the early 1930s in Southern Alabama everything was seen as black and white. The color white was definitely superior to the black color. Black people were highly motivated to work and produce for their future and families, but there was this racism; discrimination; and segregation against colored people that impeded their success. Jim Crow laws were a way to separate the white and the colored from being in the same place at the same time. This was a law basically because bob didn’t get along well and usually would end up bad. Throughout the Civil Rights Movement, African Americans gained more rights than ever before. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 made voting more accessible, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed racial discrimination in public accommodations, and public figures like Jackie Robinson revolutionized predominately white aspects of American culture. During their time on American soil, African Americans went from slaves, to compensated slaves, to oppressed citizens. Despite these significant advancements, the United States had a long way to go before it could accurately call itself “a nation with liberty and justice for all,” as stated in its Pledge of Allegiance.
