Psychiatrist need to take science and math throughout high school. A Bachelor's degree is required along with a doctoral degree which is very costly (Occupational Outlook Handbook). Doctoral degrees require 4 years+ of medical schooling, along with degrees in medicine. Many skills such as listening, critical thinking, speaking, judgement, and good reasoning are a must-have for this career. Some on the job training will help with finding a job in Psychiatry. Having 5-7 years of experience working around people and solving problems can help to pursue a job in the medical field (O-Net Online).
