Content area I: Assessment, includes the task list items I-01: Define behavior in observable and measurable terms, and I-06: Make recommendations regarding behaviors that must be established, maintained, increased, or decreased (Behavior Analyst Certification Board, 2012). My submission for this content area is the Behavior Change assignment from SPE 565, which demonstrates how to define behaviors and make recommendations for behavior reduction, as well as the replacement behavior. Behavioral Definitions and Objectives: The report on Jason did a very good job identifying the problem behavior. One can see, that the report is broken into multiple sections such as general information, initial interviews, data collection, and behavior intervention plan. In addition, each section is broken down into subsections. For example, the section “Behavior intervention Plan” is fragmented into: Replacement Behavior, Behavior Objective, Intervention Procedures, Fading and Generalization, Data to be Collected, Program Review Date, Personnel and Roles, and Emergency Procedures.…
Plan for Certification In order to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) one must meet the requirements as deemed necessary by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). One of the main purposes of the BACB is to credential Behavior Analysts and provide standards for practice (Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc., 2016). In establishment of credentialing guidelines, the BACB has developed necessary steps which include meeting educational requirements, obtaining supervision hours to achieve necessary skills while providing direct service, and passing a comprehensive exam to obtain national certification. Each step is designed to ensure the BCBA is fully prepared not only to practice within the field, but to practice…
Avoiding intervention begin with patients themselves. Many patients uncomprehend why a certain medical treatment is necessary, the risks and benefits involved, and alternatives to the specific treatment. The lack of knowledge is conveniently used to the physician’s advantage. Hence, physicians are able to administer many procedures because the patient does not know any better. When faced with a medical decision about a procedure, it is important to ask oneself what the procedure is, what the effects, the benefits and risks associated, long-term consequences, and costs.…

I’ve always been interested in the actions and decisions humans take, but mainly in why they do. Being a freshman in high school, I have set my main goal in life, and that is to one day be a Behavior Analyst. A behavior analyst is a licensed person that studies the different types of behavior that humans deal with . In other words, the human brain is an extremely complex that not everything in itself hasn’t been discovered. Ever since I was a little girl I have set my mind that I want to be a Behavior Analyst.…
Behavior Modification The long term change I intend to make is to drastically cut my sugar intake by at least 75% of my current consumption. The benefits out-weigh the instant gratification considerably. To begin I have compiled a small list of the current effects that sugar has on me , as well as the potential profits of making the change to lower my intake. I currently drink eight regular sodas on a daily basis.…
In the article, Assessing Young Children, there are some challenges that educators face that make assessing young children more difficult. Young children learn differently than older students and adults. Younger children more from hands on and would not learn from using paper and pencil. Another challenge that educators face with young children is that they all develop at different rates and no two students are exactly alike. One four year old may be able to cut with a pair of scissors while another four year old can’t cut.…

What are the Differences between ABA and DIR? Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) is a behavioral scientific approach that is used as an interventional method for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or those with other developmental disorders to make positive changes in their behaviors. This approach depends on operant conditioning principle which is a learning process by which a stimulus or antecedent event are introduced to evoke desired response that is immediately followed by a consequent event (i.e., reinforcement or punishment) to increase desired behaviors or decrease undesired one.…
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) for children with autism spectrum disorders, can be very impacting for their present and future lives. Children who are artistic, stands a greater chance of being ostracized from community and other social evens because of not knowing appropriate behaviors for such settings. Applied behavior analysis or early intensive behavior is just what these children need, whether it be home, school or public spaces shared by all. For the arguments of this paper, the top reasons for this intervention will be established.…
Critically analyse and evaluate a range of behaviour management strategies and their effectiveness for both learners and teachers in a contemporary education setting. In 1987, the Professional Association of Teachers expressed trepidations regarding discipline in Britain’s schools. More than two decades on, the management of difficult and disruptive behaviour continues to be an issue in classrooms (Swinson and Cording, 2002; Watkins, 2011).…
